ModelBrain runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. Pick your system, download the installer from the download page, and run it. No account to create, and your memories stay on your computer.

After you install
  1. Connect your assistant. On macOS and Windows, open ModelBrain's menu bar or tray icon and choose Setup guide to set up Claude Code or Cursor with one button; Claude Desktop registers itself every time ModelBrain starts. On Linux, run modelbrain setup claude-code or modelbrain setup cursor in a terminal. See Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor.
  2. Using ChatGPT? It works on all three systems through a hosted relay and a free ModelBrain account: ChatGPT guide.
  3. Try it. Follow the quickstart to add a folder and ask a question that needs two notes.
Questions

Which systems does ModelBrain run on?

macOS on Apple Silicon (M-series) Macs, Windows 10 and 11 on x64 and ARM64, and Linux on x86_64 and aarch64 as a command line package. Intel Macs are not supported.

Is the Linux version different from the others?

Yes. It is a command line package with no tray icon and no window, so you set up assistants with the modelbrain setup command instead of the setup guide. It works with Claude Code and Cursor directly, and with ChatGPT through the relay client.

Do I need an account to install it?

No. Local use needs no account, no card and no licence key. An account is only needed for ChatGPT, which connects through a hosted relay, and for the paid sync and team plans.
