Draft for review. Entity name, governing law, licence text and the pre-release disclaimer all need a lawyer's pass before this goes live.
The local software is free to install and use, including commercially, with no account, no seat count and no licence key. Nothing about it expires, phones home, or stops working if you never pay us anything.
You keep all rights to your memories and the documents you ingest. We claim no licence over them. We do not use them to train models. For the paid services, you grant us only the narrow permission needed to store, transmit and serve the content you have chosen to put there.
This is pre-release software. It may lose data, corrupt a vault, or change its on-disk format between versions. Keep independent backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, and do not make it the only copy of anything important. Features described on this site as designed or planned may change or never ship.
Paid networking, managed backup and the server tier are billed as described on the pricing page, in advance, per node or per plan. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period; we do not pro-rate partial periods. If we discontinue a paid service we will give notice and a way to export what we hold.
On cancellation, your local memories are unaffected. Server-held copies and managed backups are retained for 30 days, so an accidental cancellation is recoverable, and then deleted.
Don't use our hosted services to store unlawful content, to distribute malware, or to attack the service or other users. These restrictions apply only to services we operate; they place no limits on what you store on your own computer.
The software is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We don't promise that recall is accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose — which is precisely why we publish an evaluation instead of a guarantee. To the extent the law allows, our liability for the free software is nil, and for paid services is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes to these terms are dated and recorded in the changelog. Continuing to use a paid service after a change means accepting it; for the free software, the version you installed keeps the terms it shipped with. Questions: legal@modelbrain.net.
