Aider and ModelBrain

As far as we can tell, Aider does not connect to MCP servers, and ModelBrain reaches assistants through MCP, so there is no setup to follow.

A page that says no is more useful than a fake integration. Aider's own command list has no MCP command, so any steps we invented would only waste your time.

Steps

Use ModelBrain from an assistant that supports it. Guides: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI, OpenCode and the rest on the docs page. Your memories are stored once and every connected assistant reads the same ones.
Give Aider context the way Aider expects it. Keep a plain notes file, such as your project conventions, and load it with Aider's /read-only command so it is used for reference and never edited.
Do not copy memories in by hand as a routine. ModelBrain has no export command yet, so there is no supported way to turn your memories into a file for Aider.
Tell us if Aider adds MCP. If a newer version gains an MCP command, send us a note through the Support page and we will write the connect guide.

Is there a plugin or workaround?

We have not found a supported one, and we would rather say so than point you at something we have not tried.

Can I run ModelBrain next to Aider?

Yes. They do not interfere. ModelBrain just has nothing to offer Aider directly today.

Will this change?

It depends on Aider. ModelBrain connects through MCP, and the day Aider supports it, the setup will be the same single entry as the other guides.

Has this been tested?

This page reflects Aider's published command list as we read it on 2026-10-19. We have not run Aider ourselves. If your version has an MCP command, tell us through the Support page and we will fix this guide.
